Growing up in the beautiful state of Michigan, my childhood was spent running wild and free; skipping Petoskey stones on Torch Lake, scrambling up the slopes of the Sleeping Bear Dunes and kayaking along the slow streams of the Grass River Nature Preserve. In 2001, I left behind the “Great Lakes State” and ventured west to the majestic mountains of Colorado, specifically the wonderfully funky town of Boulder.
After graduating from the University of Colorado with a degree in environmental studies, I moved to Chicago and worked in the educational non-profit sector running after-school programming for low-income, inner-city youth. My days were filled with teaching, fundraising and a whole lot of writing; grants, newsletters, curriculum and press releases. It didn't take long for me to discover that writing was my real passion.
I currently live in Providence, RI with my husband and four feisty chickens. I work as a freelance writer, small business consultant and all around crafty girl. I spend my days writing, gardening, sewing, blogging, cooking and enjoying my new, creative path.
I feel very lucky in that my personal interests fuel my writing. My work has been featured in a number of prominent publications including: ReadyMade, Bust, Cookie, Cape Cod Life, Babble.com and I have been featured on The Today Show.
